Fitness Classes

First Family Church Wellness Ministry offers a variety of classes for everyone – from the Beginner just getting started on his or her wellness journey to the person who is looking for an intense and challenging workout.

 

Sunday 2:00—3:00  pm
Re/Defined:  L.I.F.E. (Low-Impact Fitness for Everyone)

Sore knees?  Back problems?  Health concerns?  Just don’t know where to start?  Join us for L.I.F.E. and you will love this low impact class to help you move in healthy ways.  Includes walking and chair fitness.  Class will include a Devotional Book:  Made to Crave – 60 Days to Craving God, Not Food.

Monday 10:00—10:45  am
Re/Defined:  Resistance

Building muscle helps you burn more calories every day— while you sit at a computer, watch a ballgame or even sleep!  This fun class will help you get stronger and build bone density with out “bulking up” with both resistance and cardio exercises.

Prices:
$4 per class (drop in)
$35 for a 10 class punch card
Childcare available:  $2 per family

WARRIORS

The elite training program for those  looking for extreme fitness.  Using TRX  and other functional training equipment with increasing challenge each week, you will see incredible body transformation.

 
Tuesday 6:00—6:45  pm
Re/Defined:  Cardio
A fun dance fitness class where the focus is on cardio (but we might sneak in a bit of resistance, too!)  Latin and hip hop, step aerobics and kickboxing fun!

Wednesday 10:00 –11:00 am
Wednesday Walkers
This is YOUR workout!  Come for a casual gentle stroll or a hard core power walk.  Includes some light resistance and stretching.  Kids come and play while moms walk and talk!

Thursday 10:00—10:45  am
Re/Defined:  Toning
A gentle, relaxing stretch class to help tone your muscles and improve your posture.  Suitable for older adults, pregnant moms, health concerns, etc.
Childcare available.

Friday 7:00—7:45 am
Re/Defined:  Kettlebells
Forty-five minutes of kettlebells and you will blast more than 400 calories while building core strength and cardio endurance.

 

Wednesday Walkers

This is YOUR workout!  Come for a casual stroll or a hard core power walk.  Includes some light resistance and stretching.  Kids play while moms walk and talk!


 

Re/Defined:  Toning

This no-impact class will help you sculpt lean, strong (but not bulky) muscles.  Taking the best elements from Pilates, ballet, Core Performance and other flexibility-building practices, Body Sculpt will enhance your posture and poise, build strength to ward off injury and enhance lean muscle mass.  Long-term benefits include increasing bone mass and metabolic rate to burn more calories even on days you are inactive.

Childcare is available for $2 per child.
Children ten to thirteen are welcome to participate with a parent.
Children fourteen and older are welcome to participate unaccompanied.

Cardio, Core & Morecardio, core, fitness, class, christian, ankeny

Push your body to a stronger, healthier YOU!  A solid and challenging mix of heart-pumping cardio endurance, low weight/high rep and high weight/low rep exercises, plyometrics, kick- and shadowboxing, kettlebells, and resistance training.
Routines will change every two weeks to keep it challenging while we get our groove on to music by TobyMac, MercyMe, Skillet and more.  Childcare available for $2 per child.  Children fourteen and over are welcome to participate with a parent.

Step It Upcardio, step aerobics, fitness class, ankeny, christian

Blast major calories in this fun cardio step class.  Easy to follow moves you will love – hip hop and Latin dance, step aerobics, and more.  You can expect a low-intensity warm up, a high energy workout and a low-intensity cool down with resistance and stretching.  Come prepared to laugh, have fun and sweat!!

Childcare not provided.  Children fourteen and over are welcome to participate with a parent.

Kettlebkettlebell, fitness class, weight loss, christian, ankenyell Express

Kettlebells are the hot new trend in cardio/resistance training.  These 5 to 10 pound ball-shaped weights have a handle which allows for challenging and unique exercises that will build strength and endurance.

You can expect a low-impact class that will challenge the joints and long muscles of the body while raising your heart rate and making you break a sweat.

Kettlebells are a great choice for both men and women, even older adults who want a safe but challenging workout.

Childcare not available.
Children fourteen and over may attend when accompanied by a parent.
